First Ever Brewers’ Company Virtual Tap Room Chat Event

20 July 2020

The Master, Richard Fuller, was delighted to host Liverymen at the Company’s first ever virtual Tap Room Chat on Thursday 16 July. With the COVID-19 crisis ongoing, the Company has been exploring new ways to bring our Liverymen together and having a ‘Tap Room Chat’, with a beer over Zoom enabled us to do just that!

The virtual gathering opened with a welcome from the Master, followed by an opportunity for the Clerk to update Liverymen on the work of the Company that has been ongoing in the last few months. This has included continuing to support the beneficiaries of our charities, and working to prepare against challenging times to come, as well as looking after the Company’s members and staff and maintaining the momentum on the planned redevelopment of Brewers’ Hall.

We were also delighted to welcome Lt Col Adam Foden DSO MBE, the Commanding Officer of our affiliated army regiment, the Royal Lancers. He spoke about how the Regiment had fared over the previous months and the lessons that they had learned in having to overcome the challenges presented by Coronavirus.

In between the presentations, Liverymen had the opportunity to catch up with each other in an informal setting, much as they would at one of our lunches or dinners, and the friendly “Brewers’ spirit” that pervades all of our events was much in evidence, despite the unconventional setting. We are looking forward to hosting another Tap Room Chat again very soon.
