We are delighted to report that both Dame Alice Owen’s (DAOS) and Aldenham Schools once again made a great showing with excellent results for both A Levels and GCSEs. Despite the uncertainty across the country arising from the introduction of new A level courses, the achievements of Aldenham pupils were the highest in recent years, with over 48% of all A Level grades at A*, A or B. At DAOS 34% of A Level students achieved 3 or more A/A* grades (a 4% increase on last year).

Despite the much reported increase in difficulty of the new GCSE maths and English papers, DAOS had a fantastic year. It was widely reported that only 3% of students would be awarded a level 9 in the new English and maths papers, however an astonishing 26.7% of DAOS maths students, 17.1% of English language and 22% of English Literature students reached this top grade. At Aldenham, the 94 students in the cohort achieved the School’s highest ever proportion of A* grades with 17% of all examinations being graded at this top level or at the new top grades 9 or 8 for Maths.

Here at the Brewers’ Company, we are pleased to continue to support these two excellent schools and offer our congratulations to all of the staff and students.
