DAOS Student Wins Prestigious Poetry Award

Fourteen year old Lauren Lisk, a pupil at Dame Alice Owen’s School, has been named one of just 15 top poets in the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award, run by the Poetry Society. The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award is the biggest poetry competition for 11-17 year olds in the world and this year a staggering 15,966 entries were submitted by young poets from 118 countries. Lauren’s poem, The Race Card, will be published along with the other 14 winning entries in a printed anthology which will be available from March 2021. You can see a video of Lauren reading her poem on the Poetry Society website
