DAOS Senior Strings at the Royal Albert Hall

24 November 2016

Following their outstanding performance in the finals of the National Festival of Music for Youth in Summer, the Dame Alice Owen's School Senior String Ensemble were invited to take part in the internationally acclaimed Schools Proms concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. On Tuesday 15 November, the Senior Strings opened the Schools Prom, performing the world premiere of ‘The Wedding Feast of Thrym and Thor’, composed by Timothy Jackson as a special commission for the ensemble.

They gave a stunning performance, filling the Royal Albert Hall with a sound of truly professional quality and dazzling the audience with their level of technical accomplishment and musicianship, which was brilliantly incorporated within the piece. The Music for Youth Proms showcase the very best of the UK’s young musicians, and it was a wonderful opportunity to play on stage in one of the world’s most famous concert venues.

Many congratulations to all the players in Senior Strings and their musical director, Mr James Widden.
