Court Luncheon 10 October 2019

15 October 2019

Following the Court meeting on 10 October, we were very pleased to welcome guests from Dame Alice Owen's School and our military affiliations to a luncheon at Brewers' Hall. Also at the lunch were four new Liverymen who had been admitted to the Company that morning: Matt Callan, Brewing & Operations Director at Heineken UK; Will Calvert, Director of Windsor and Eton Brewery; Stu Cook, Commercial Director of Harviestoun Brewery; and Peter Sandstrom, CEO of Harviestoun Brewery.

During his speech, the Master presented the Brewers' Company prize for a crew member of HMS ALBION nominated by the Captain for outstanding achievement to CPO David Jones. CPO Jones was nominated based on his significant contribution to the ship’s output over the course of the last 12 months and in particular for his enthusiastic and impressive work ethic in bringing the crew into a state of medical readiness with very short notice of imminent deployment in an Asia-Pacific theatre last year. The award was received by Cdr James Farrant on his behalf.

The Master also presented the Brewers' Company award to the Trooper or JNCO from the Royal Lancers who has shown the greatest initiative in support of Regimental life in the last year to LCpl Blondin-Diop. Nominated for being "innovative and utterly reliable", the citation for the award noted that LCpl Blondin-Diop encourages and inspires others to emulate his high standards of professionalism and is also entirely selfless going above and beyond what could reasonably be expected to help others with their own training.

The Headteacher of Dame Alice Owen's School, Hannah Nemko, reported on the School's success over the last year, including an impressive set of GCSE and A Level results in the summer and thanked the Brewers' Company for its ongoing support.
