Brewers' Golf Society Luncheon

04 February 2020

The Brewers' Golf Society held their annual lunch at Brewers' Hall this week and we were delighted to welcome both members and non-members of the Brewers' Company for an enjoyable event.

The Brewers' Golf Society is open to individuals who work, or have worked, in the brewing industry, upon nomination by a Liveryman of the Brewers' Company. It provides a great opportunity for colleagues and friends to get together throughout the year and the team brought home an impressive array of silverware in 2019. Annual matches are contested against the Licensed Victuallers, the Worshipful Company of Distillers and the Worshipful Company of Vintners, with the Distillers and Vintners falling to the Brewers in 2019. The Brewers also play in two inter-Livery golf matches and last year the Brewers team took home the trophy for the Markteors' Ryder Cup competition against over 20 other livery companies. For the second year running the Brewers were also victorious against brewing giant Diageo who had, for several years previously, dominated this match.

The Brewers Golf Society has been running in its current form for over 20 years and for much longer before that as the London Brewers Golf Society. At this year's lunch, the Master, Simon Theakston, thanked Ewan Harries who has led the Society so well since 2011.
