Aldenham School Football Success

25 March 2019

Another tremendous term for Aldenham school football has seen their most successful ever season, with hopefully more silverware to come. Retaining the U15 Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) National Cup was a highlight. A 2-1 win over Royal Russell at the Pirelli Stadium in early March was the culmination of an outstanding run for the U15 side who beat Brook House College, Worth, Ardingly, Bradfield & Moorland on route to the final. Goals from Ozzie Ufuah & Romey Eccles-Meoded won the game in front of over 150 Aldenham supporters.

There was success in the Elgin Cup for the U14A side who also reached the league final following their own unbeaten campaign. A resounding 4-1 win over Bedes in the semi saw them into the final vs Bradfield. An Aaron Benn hat-trick saw them to a 3-1 win and their first piece of silverware since they arrived at the school. Thoroughly deserved for a team who show a fantastic attitude to training and matches every week.

On the individual front Aldenham has had Romey Eccles-Meoded & Toj Ladipo both represent the ISFA U15 National team, whilst Josh Andrew was selected for the Herts & Essex Squad at U13. Charlie Patino captained England again this year and has already been offered a scholarship at Arsenal for when he leaves Year 11. Ryan Hayes has also been given a scholarship by QPR. These follow on from 3 former students: Xavier Amaechi, James Olayinka & Zico Asare, who left two years ago and have gone on to sign professional contracts at Arsenal (Xavier & James) & Fulham (Zico).

Aldenham School is rightly proud of its strong footballing tradition and everyone at the Brewers' Company congratulates them on their success.
