United Guilds' Service 2026

26 March 2026

The 82nd Service of the United Guilds of the City of London was held at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday 20 March 2026, bringing together representatives from the City’s Livery Companies and Guilds for one of the most significant ceremonial occasions in the civic calendar.

Established in 1943 “to help lift the spirits” of the City following the Blitz during the Second World War, the United Guilds’ Service remains one of the few occasions each year on which the Livery Companies and Guilds are able to gather collectively, offering thanks for their shared fellowship, traditions and service to the City. Set within the magnificent surroundings of St Paul’s Cathedral, the Service was once again marked by the colourful procession of Masters, Wardens, Beadles and other officers, wearing the distinctive robes and badges of office.

Following the Service, the Master and Wardens of the Brewers’ Company were pleased to welcome Brewers’ Company Liverymen, together with guests from the Worshipful Companies of Coopers and Distillers, to Brewers’ Hall for lunch. The occasion provided an opportunity to continue the spirit of fellowship and hospitality which lies at the heart of the United Guilds’ tradition, and to renew friendships across the Livery in an informal setting.

Now more than eight decades on from its inception, the United Guilds’ Service continues to reflect the enduring role of the Livery Companies within the life of the City of London, celebrating not only their history and pageantry but also their ongoing commitment to charity, education and service.
