The Brewers’ Company is proud to support amazing work of the Aldgate and Allhallows Foundation which provides grants to support the education of young people in the City of London and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

The Foundation, which is administered by staff from the Portal Trust, awarded grants of over £150,000 in 2022. This included support for the Ragged School Museum, a popular museum with an authentic Victorian classroom which welcomes people of all ages to discover and experience life in the east end of London as it felt a century ago. The Museum is a popular destination for school groups and has an extensive educational programme. Grants were also awarded to the Centre of the Cell in Whitechapel, towards its Youth Members Programme and the Half Moon Theatre in Limehouse to meet the costs of a dramatic science project. The Foundation also supported a innovative programmes with Four Corners based in Bethnal Green and the London Symphony Orchestra. Smaller grants were also made to the East London Community Band and Pollyanna Training Theatre in Wapping. This year, the Foundation is supporting Mayflower Primary School in Tower Hamlets with a grant to enable thirty-nine Key Stage 2 pupils to develop invaluable like skills, boost their confidence and gain an immersive understanding of rural life with a five day residential visit to Nethercott House farm in Devon.

The Brewers’ Company nominate two Governors on the Board of the Foundation and provide an annual donation towards the Foundation’s grant giving activities. You can find out more about the Aldgate and Allhallows Foundation at
