Royal Lancers 2024 Award Presented

The Brewers’ Company Award 2024 was presented to Cpl McCarthy of the Royal Lancers this month.

The Brewers’ Company has been affiliated with the Royal Lancers since the Regiment was formed in 2015 and the Brewers’ Company Award is presented annually to the Trooper or JNCO who has shown the greatest initiative in support of Regimental life, be it professionally, on the sports pitch or in support to the Regimental community.

The citation for this year’s winner, Cpl McCarthy, was as follows:

Cpl McCarthy has stood out for his excellent work ethic and efforts during the recent period. He was not only central to planning the recent PNCO Cadre and K Qualification package, but also took a lead role in the delivery phase. As in-role Platoon Sergeant (as a non-Crew Commander Corporal), Directing Staff and Real Life Support coordinator, Cpl McCarthy set a very high bar. He led by example and mentored the students towards reaching and maintaining the required standard on the course. Cpl McCarthy used his knowledge and experience to give the students detailed feedback following actions, allowing them to develop their leadership, command and tactical abilities. Additionally, Cpl McCarthy’s conduct during the delivery of the K Qualification package was of the highest standard. He was commended by the Small Arms School Corps for his efforts and was successful in qualifying 28 individuals. Cpl McCarthy has supported not only C Squadron but the whole Regiment over the recent period and is thoroughly deserving of the Brewer’s Award for outstanding military achievement for a JNCO or Tpr.
