Opening the Door to Careers in Brewing
02 March 2023
On 28 February the Master, Jonathan Neame, gave the Brewers’ Lectures at Dame Alice Owen’s and Aldenham Schools. As part of our commitment to supporting the brewing industry, each year the Master Brewer visits our schools to introduce members of the Sixth Form to the wide array of careers opportunities available to them.
Supported by members of his team from Shepherd Neame, the Master introduced the students to some of the science of brewing, to the brewing and pub industry as a whole and to Shepherd Neame, Britain’s oldest brewer. With so many possible career paths in the industry, this year’s lectures focused on a selection of significant areas including: Brewer, Brewing Manager, Master Brewer, Filtration and Bottling Operative, Microbiologist/Chemist, Engineer, and Sales and Marketing.
It is exciting to see the students engaging with the lectures and discovering the possibilities that the brewing industry has to offer. We hope that the Brewers’ Lectures will inspire some passionate young brewers of the future who we may one day welcome as Liverymen of the Brewers’ Company!
