The Master on the Tour 2024

On Tuesday 17 September the Master and Wardens of the Brewers’ Company conducted their annual ‘Tour’.

This event, a vital part of the governance of the Company’s charities, gives the Master and Wardens the opportunity to visit key locations associated with them. This includes, the property estate in Islington which generates income for the Dame Alice Owen Foundation, the Almshouses in South Mimms operated by the Charity of Alderman James Hickson, and Company’s schools: the Aldenham Foundation and Dame Alice Owen’s School.

In addition to enhancing the Master and Wardens’ knowledge and understanding of these key sites, the visits were also excellent opportunities for constructive, strategic discussions, particularly with senior staff at the schools. The tradition of an annual ‘Tour’ is long established and is one of the ways that the Company ensures that its leaders are in the best position to manage its charities effectively for the collective benefit of its beneficiaries.
