Keeping the Beerfest Spirit Alive

Beerfest-Lite 2021

Cooling beers and fabulous food were on offer last week at Guildhall Yard as visitors took a breather from the mini heatwave. The fun-packed Beerfest-Lite took place from noon to 9pm on Thursday 9 September and was much enjoyed by all who attended.

Organised by the Brewers’ Company and the City of London and normally held on the first Thursday in July, the City Beerfest has become a mainstay of the City’s events calendar and a marvellous opportunity to bring great beers to thirsty crowds.  We had been very sad to be forced to cancel the City Beerfest in 2020 and 2021 due to ongoing COVID restrictions and were therefore delighted that this mini Beerfest could take place.

Beers on offer were supplied by Brewers’ Company members Meantime, Windsor and Eton, Hook Norton and Shepherd Neame breweries and, as visitors sipped their drinks, they were entertained with the sounds of New Orleans and Germany – a jazz performance from the Alvar Tree Frogs and Bavarian Oompah band Würst Brass. Great food from around the world – paella, hot dogs, souvlaki and Caribbean dishes – was also available to complete the experience.

It was wonderful to see that the Beerfest spirit is alive and well, tiding us over until next year’s triumphant return on Thursday 7 July – we hope we will see you there!
