Exam results 2024
22 August 2024
Both Aldenham and Dame Alice Owen’s Schools have, once again, produced excellent exam results this year.
Aldenham School
Students achieved an excellent set of GCSE results, with nearly half being a grade 7 or above (47.5%, compared to 39% in 2023). This is the School’s best set of GCSE results since at least 2014. Over a quarter (27.6%) of the grades awarded were 8/9 (old A*) and 9 students gained 5 or more 9s, the highest grade.
A Level results showed a significant increase in the A* to B band, rising this year to 58.2% (51.7% in 2023). The number of entries awarded an A* grade also increased to 7.3% this year (4.3% in 2023), and this despite exam boards indicating that they would be awarding fewer A*s. At least 92% of students secured a place at their first or second choice university, a strong showing against the national average of 80%.
Dame Alice Owen’ School
This year there was a significant increase in the number of top grades achieved at GCSE, with a staggering 33% of all grades awarded at grade 9 (24% in 2023) and 24% at grade 8 (23% in 2023). In total, 74% of this year’s results were grades 9-7. 93% of grades were classed as a ‘strong pass’ (grade 5 or above). 94% of students achieved 5 or more standard passes (grade 4+) including English and maths. 6 students achieved 10 or more grade 9s which is an astonishing achievement.
A Level results were even better than last year’s, with 86.3% of all exams graded A*-B (83% in 2023) and 94.8% A*-C. 44% of students achieved 3 or more A/A* grades and 12% of students achieved 4 or more A*/A grades. 90% of students were accepted onto a course of their choice at university, with 26 offered places at Oxbridge and at least 15 accepted onto a medical degree.
