EH Thompson Awards 2025

The EH Thompson Bequest, one of the eleven charities administered by the Brewers’ Company, made its annual awards to university students in December 2025.

The EH Thompson Awards Committee met at Brewers’ Hall to interview a group of impressive former students of Dame Alice Owen’s School and consider their applications for financial support. The Bequest, which was established to help Owen’s alumni thrive in higher education, continues to honour its long-standing purpose of promoting academic excellence and educational opportunity.

The Committee reviewed applications from six candidates, each pursuing rigorous courses at universities across the UK and demonstrating exceptional commitment to their academic fields. Following thoughtful discussion, the Committee agreed to distribute awards covering needs such as books, equipment, research activities, enrichment opportunities and other educational costs. In total, £4,700 was allocated through the EH Thompson Bequest Awards for 2025, ensuring that each successful applicant received meaningful assistance to enhance their university experience.

The Brewers’ Company is proud to continue its stewardship of the EH Thompson Bequest and its broader charitable commitment to education. Through scholarships, school prizes, and targeted support for students, the EH Thompson Bequest remains a vital source of encouragement for young people as they transition from school to university and beyond.
