Dame Alice Owen's School named Comprehensive School of the Year for Academic Excellence
12 January 2026
We are delighted to announce that Dame Alice Owen’s School has been named The Sunday Times’ Comprehensive School of the Year for Academic Excellence in the 2025 “Parent Power” school awards.
This national award is one of two accolades bestowed upon the School this year, alongside being named Comprehensive School of the Year in the Southeast. Since 2017, DAOS has now received five such honours from The Sunday Times. This outstanding success is a result of Owen’s high‑quality teaching, strong culture of pastoral care, and an exceptional range of extracurricular opportunities that help students grow in confidence, resilience, and leadership.
Headteacher, Hannah Nemko, said: “As a school, we thank our Trustee, the Worshipful Company of Brewers, for their continued interest, vital investment, and long-standing belief in our mission. We are also grateful to our Governing Body, whose insightful support and strategic challenge ensure we remain reflective and focused on keeping Owen's at the very top of its game.”
The Brewers’ Company congratulates the Headteacher, staff, students, and the entire school community on this well‑deserved national recognition and we look forward to celebrating their continued achievements.
