Charitable Distributions December 2024

26 November 2024

In December, two of the Brewers’ Company’s charities will be making distributions to people in need.

Dame Alice Owen’s Eleemosynary Charities was established in 1609 and its income is distributed to “provide grants, items and services to elderly individuals in need and/or charities or organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty amongst the elderly who have lived in the Parishes of St. Mary, Islington, St. James, Clerkenwell or Christchurch, Spitalfields.” This year, grants will be made to six individuals, as well as Age UK (Islington) whose fantastic work provides support across a breadth of issues, including money, social, health and domestic concerns.

Mr Samuel Whitbread’s Trusts was established in 1974 and its income is used to provide grants to people in need who work, or have worked, in the brewing industry or engaged in the sale of beer and other alcoholic beverages from licensed premises. This year, grants have been awarded to five individuals, as well as the Drinks Trust which works to support the drinks and hospitality workforce, to assist financially, restore wellbeing and develop skills.
