Military representatives with the Master of the Brewers' Company

On Thursday 16 October the Master, Fergus McMullen, signed the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of the Brewers’ Company.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, including the bereaved, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives.

The Master was joined by the Commanding Officer of the Brewers’ Company’s affiliated Army Regiment the Royal Lancers, Lt Col Robin Davies, who signed the Covenant on behalf of the Ministry of Defence. Also present were other representatives from the Company’s military affiliations: HMS BELFAST, the Royal Lancers and 9F (Islington) Squadron Air Training Corps; as well as representatives from Aldenham School’s Combined Cadet Forces and military veterans and reservists who are members of the Company, its staff (including the Clerk and the Beadle) or employed at its member breweries.

The Master expressed his pride in the Company’s many military connections and his pleasure at signing the Covenant, which began with the following expression of intent: “We commit to uphold the Armed  Forces Covenant and support the Armed Forces Community. We recognise the  contribution that Service personnel, both regular and reservist, veterans and military families make to our organisation, our community and to the country.”
