A Warm Welcome at Brewers' Hall

01 October 2026

On Tuesday 29 September we were delighted to welcome members of the Livery and their guests to a Luncheon at Brewers’ Hall.

With guests from across the brewing industry and beyond, the lively gathering was an opportunity to meet with colleagues and friends and make valuable connections. Speaking to the assembled company the Master, Stephen Gould, said:

“There is one other part of Livery which is rather harder to put on a balance sheet. Fellowship. Brewers have been gathering together here for centuries. And apparently they have always enjoyed themselves…But behind the humour is something important. Eating together matters. Conversation matters. Friendship matters. Bringing people together from different businesses, generations and backgrounds matters. Our predecessors understood that. And more than six centuries later, that is exactly what we are doing today.”

Having spoken about the Company’s charitable work, which saw the distribution of over £2.6 million in 2025, the Master concluded:

“Ladies and Gentlemen, when we look around this Hall, we are surrounded by history. But the Brewers’ Company isn’t simply about preserving history. It is about what each generation chooses to do with what it inherits. The buildings have changed. The beer has changed. The businesses have changed. London has changed almost beyond recognition. But the instinct to come together - around our trade, in fellowship and in service - has survived remarkably intact. And that is why having our guests with us today matters. You haven’t simply visited an historic Hall. For one afternoon, you have become part of its continuing story.”
