The Drinks Trust Covid-19 Relief Fund

06 April 2020

The Drinks Trust, formerly the Benevolent, has been supporting the drinks industry since 1886. The charity provides vocational, practical, emotional and financial support to those who are currently working, or who have worked, in the UK drinks industry. Now, in these challenging times, the Drinks Trust is working to support individuals in desperate need with a COVID-19 Relief Fund.

With the support of leading industry businesses, the Drinks Trust has raised over £500,000 to date, to support the people of the drinks industry who have been left in financial crisis as a result of COVID-19. The COVID-19 Relief Fund was made available on Monday 6 April and is supporting successful applicants with a £250 grant to assist them with essentials and to help them through the weeks ahead.

The Drinks Trust will continue to support its existing beneficiaries, over 350 vulnerable people who together receive in excess of £30,000 a month in ongoing grants. In addition, now more than ever wellbeing services are crucial, with a significant increase in the number of individuals contacting the Trust. To tackle this demand, the Drinks Trust helpline is being increased in capacity and access to talking and well-being therapies will be extended.

The Brewers’ Company is proud to be a corporate partner of the Drinks Trust and given the exceptional circumstances, in addition to this year’s annual donation, is donating to the COVID-19 Relief Fund to provide assistance to those who need it most right now. We encourage our Liverymen and member companies to support the Drinks Trust if they are able and to share details of the COVID-19 Relief Fund with anyone in need. You can find out more about giving and receiving support at www.drinkstrust.org.uk.
