Support available from the Licensed Trade Charity

04 June 2018

In May, the Master and Clerk were delighted to visit the Licensed Trade Charity (LTC) at its headquarters at the Licensed Victuallers School (LVS) in Ascot. It was a great opportunity to hear more about the LTC and the practical, emotional and financial support that it gives to people who have worked in the drinks industry. One of their key goals currently is to get the word out about what they can do for people who have worked in the trade and have fallen on hard times.

There is also currently a fantastic opportunity to take up full scholarships to LVS Ascot – an independent school owned and managed by the LTC. Scholarships are available for entry into Years 9, 10 and 12 for children of bar, pub and brewery people – that is anyone who is either currently or has previously worked in the licensed drinks trade for a total of five years continuously, this can be in one or more jobs. The scholarship will pay for the cost of a day pupil, amounting to approximately £17K per year. This will cover teaching, all meals, curriculum books and exam entrance charges. Applications are invited from parents (or legal guardians) of children who are highly able across the academic, creative and sporting curriculum. The submission deadline for applications is 15 June 2018.

You can find out more about the LTC and the fantastic work they do at www.licensedtradecharity.org.uk. More details about the scholarships can be found at www.lvs.ascot.sch.uk/trade-scholarships.
