Proceeds of City Beerfest presented to the Lord Mayor's Appeal
The Master Brewer, Paul Wells, was delighted recently to have the opportunity to present a cheque for £7,000 to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal 2017. The cheque, which was gratefully received by the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley, represented part of the proceeds of this year’s City Beerfest, held in the Guildhall Yard in July.
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal 2017 raised funds in support of the LSO Discovery Programme, St Paul’s Music Outreach and Music in Hospitals. These charities have the power to ‘Educate, Support, Inspire’ – which was the Lord Mayor’s motto for his year. He said: “As a teacher and a musician arts and education have played an extremely important role in my life. I want them to make a difference to all our lives by opening our minds and stirring our hearts.”
The remaining money raised by the City Beerfest went to the co-founders and organisers of this annual event, the City Music Foundation, whose mission is to turn exceptional musical talent into professional success by equipping outstanding musicians with the tools, skills, experience and networks they need to build and sustain rewarding and profitable careers.
