Brewers' Lectures 2021

The Master Brewer, Richard Fuller, was given a warm welcome at Aldenham School last week as he introduced the triumphant return of the Brewers’ Lectures. A key event in the Company’s calendar, the lectures celebrate the close ties between the Brewers’ Company and its schools, as well as being an opportunity to inspire the next generation of brewers and publicans.

The Master’s fascinating presentation charted the history of Fuller’s from its very earliest origins in the 1600s, around the time that Aldenham School itself was founded, right up to the present day. He was joined by Sarah Dickinson, Fuller’s Recruitment Manager, who then spent some time highlighting the variety of opportunities and potential career paths in the pub and hospitality sector, showing the receptive audience how there is a role for everyone, whether in Customer Service, Finance, Sales and Events, Operations, Recruitment or IT and Digital. With job opportunities starting as soon as the next summer holidays, by the end of the evening there were already several volunteers ready to take their first steps into work in the pub industry!

The lecture was followed by a tasting of some Fuller’s beers, aimed at enhancing the students’ understanding and appreciation of the brewing process, sparking a passion for brewing and highlighting further career opportunities in the production of beer.
