Royal Lancers receive new guidon from HM The Queen

18 April 2017

On Wednesday 5 April Stephen Spencer-Jones, our Middle Warden, was delighted to be present at a special ceremony at Windsor Castle during which Her Majesty the Queen presented the new Regimental Guidon of the Royal Lancers (Queen Elizabeth’s Own), our affiliated army regiment.

A guidon is equivalent to a regimental standard, or colours, for a light cavalry regiment which acted as a rallying point in battle. The design includes honours for specific battles which the regiment has received.

On presenting the guidon, Her Majesty said: “In the short time since I attended your amalgamation you have established yourselves as a unified regiment and a force without match. It gives me much pleasure to present to you your new guidon.”
