Aldenham are the Champions!

19 March 2018

The Clerk was one of a crowd of delighted spectators who watched Aldenham School triumph in the final of the Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) Under-15 Cup Final against Cheadle Hulme School last week. The match was an exciting one, during which the team from Aldenham demonstrated the skill and dedication of their players against strong opposition. It began with a fairly evenly matched first half, with Aldenham pulling ahead to 1-0 just before half time. In the second half, both teams played with renewed vigour, but it was Aldenham that came out on top, finishing the game in a convincing 4-1 win.

Aldenham has a long tradition of football, dating back to the foundation of the Aldenham School Football Club, thought to be in 1825 (a fact that is not easily verifiable but would make it some years older than Sheffield Club, who FIFA recognise as the oldest football club in the world). The School has done well in previous ISFA competitions, but this is the first ISFA National Title at any age level that the school has ever won, making it a momentous triumph.

As always, the Brewers' Company couldn't be prouder to support this fantastic school and we offer our hearty congratulations to all of the players and staff involved in this brilliant victory.
