Muisc in Secondary Schools Trust Concert

The Music in Secondary Schools Trust’s 11th Annual Concert took place at The Roundhouse on 22 April — it was a spectacular event and a perfect celebration of MiSST's amazing achievements.

The concert began with Holst’s Jupiter, from the Planets suite, with both the MiSST Symphony Orchestra (MiSO) and the MiSST Voices Choir. The 180-strong MiSST Together Orchestra performed Byzantine Dances by Carol Brittin-Chambers and a fun rendition of Oye Coma Va by Tito Puentes (with audience participation!). The MiSST Voices Choir gave us a special performance of “One Day Like This” by Elbow and Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”. Then MiSO performed Sibelius’s Symphony 1, bringing us to the evening’s big finish; a massed choir and orchestral performance of “One Day More” from Les Miserables.

The concert featured 270+ students with every MiSST school from around the UK represented. This was an experience that none of them will forget and we are extremely proud of everything they achieved, as evidenced by 1 student’s google review of MiSST straight after the concert:

“I've been part of this amazing community for 3 years now. Not only have I built my violin skills, but I've built incredible relationships with my peers. My hope for this community is that it continues to grow and help more students experience and do great things.”

The Brewers’ Company is proud to support the work of MiSST in Islington through the Dame Alice Owen Foundation.
